The two Powers are? Uterine Contractions, the primary power during the first stage Maternal pushing, only effective when it is combined with contractions
What is a uterine Contraction involuntary muscle contractions, influenced by walking, drugs, anxiety & vaginal exams
what is cervical dilation enlargement of opening of the external os measured from 0 to 10 cm
what is cervical effacement thinning and softening of the cervix measured from 0% to 100%
LTC means? long thick and closed
LTP means? ling think posterior
increment means? increasing strength
acme means? Peak (greatest strength)
decrement means? decreasing strength
duration means from beginning of contraction to end of same contraction
frequency means from beginning of one contraction to the beginning of next contraction
interval means relaxation
intensity mean approximate strength of contraction mild = feels like tip of nose moderate = feels like chin strong (hard) = like forehead
what can be used to reduce urge to push? meds and fatigue
Passage consist of mother's bony pelvis an soft tissue
bony pelvis consist of false pelvis (upper flaring part) true pelvis (lower part) which is involved in the childbirth process and can only be measured on ultra sound
