Phlebotomy | The practice of drawing blood. Incision of a vein for the letting of blood. (collection of any type of blood specimen: venous, arterial or capillary) |

Scarification | The removal of large amounts of blood, which was done very quickly to cause fainting |
Cupping | Using heated glass to pull capillary blood upward |
Polycythemia | Over production of red blood cells |
Hemochromotosis | Excessive absorption and accumulation of iron |
EKG | Electrocardiogram |
Acrocyanosis | A blueness of the hands and feet caused by disturbance to the superficial veins |
Anticoagulant | Substance that prevents clotting |
Cardiovascular | Pertaining to the heart and blood vessels |
Cyanosis | Condition in which the skin turns bluish due to lack of oxygen in the blood |
Edema | Interstitial fluid trapped in tissues puffy apperance |
Exudate | Fluid secreted by tissue.......pus |
Febrile | With fever |
Hematoma | Collection of blood, which has been trapped in the tissue |
Hemolysis | Breakdown of RBC's releases hemoglobin into the plasma |
