Cardiology The study of the heart.
Cardiomegaly An enlarged heart
Cephalalgia A head ache
Cephalohematoma A collection of blood between the scalp and the skull of a newborn.
Combining Vowel A vowel added to a root when joining two terms.
Cytology The study of cells
Dermatitis Inflammation of the skin.
Dyspepsia A painful stomach due to bad digestion, commonly known as indigestion.
Erythrocyte A red blood cell.
Eupepsia Normal or good digestion.
Gastrohepatitis Inflammation of the stomach and the liver.
Gastroparesis A health condition that occurs when the muscles of the stomach don’t function properly.
Hyperthermia A health condition that occurs when your body temperature is above, or higher, than normal.
Hypothermia A health condition that occurs when your body temperature is below normal.
Lipolysis The breakdown of lipids in the body
Medical terminology The study of the words and abbreviations used to describe medical terms, conditions, and procedures.
Ophthalmology The study of the eye
Pericarditis Inflammation around the heart.
Pharmacist A specialist in medication.
Poliomyelitis Inflammation of the gray matter of the spinal cord.
Prefix A describing term at the beginning of the word.
Root The foundation or base word which most commonly refers to the structure within the body.
Sagittal Divides the plane into left and right portions.
Suffix A describing term at the end of the world.
