Human Geography Essental Question How do people adapt to their enviornment?

death rate | Death rate is the number of deaths compared to total number of people in a population at a given time. |
birthrate | Birthrate is the number of babies born compared to the total number of people in a population at a given time. |
doubling time | Doubling time is the number of years it takes a population to double in size based on current growth rate. |
population distribution | Population distribution is the geographic pattern of where people live on Earth. |
population density | Population density i sthe average number of people living within a square mile or a square kilometer. |
urban | Urban area is described as densely populated based on the square mile or square kilometer of an area within an area such as a city. |
rural | Rural describes an area that is lightly populated such as within a county area outside city limits. |
emigarate | Emigrate means to leave one's own country or region in order to settle permaently in another country. |
immigrate | Immigrate is to enter a foreign country to live. |
The difference between emigate and immigrate | You immigrate "into" places. You emigrate "from" places. |
refugee | A refugee is someone who has been forced to flee their country because of fear of persecution, war or violence. A refugee's reasons for fear of race, religion, nationality, political opinion or membership in a particular social group. |
urbanization | Urbanization is an increase in a population in cities or towns verses rural areas. |
megalopolis | Megalopolis is typically defined as a chain of roughly adjacent metropolitan areas, which may be somewhat separated or may merge into a continuous urban region. |
