Salivary Gland Aplasia

Clinical Features of Salivary gland aplasia | Patients with this condition have severe xerostomia, increased caries, and erosion. |
Clinical appearance of Salivary gland aplasia | The location of missing gland is replaced with fat or connective tissue. The duct opening would also be missing. |
Demographics of Salivary gland aplasia | This condition is diagnosed at early ages and more common in males. It may be found in patients with Treacher Collins syndrome and Hemifacial Microsomia Syndrome. |
Treatment for Salivary gland aplasia | Palliative treatment. For example, prescribe saliva substitutes or sialagogues to increase salivary flow. |
