Anticholinesterase: Edrophonium (Tensilon), Pyridostigmine (Mestinon), Neostigmine (Prostigmine) Used to determine if Pt is in a Myasthenic crisis Cholinergic crisis | If Patient is positive for Myasthenia. Anticholinesterases "Tensilon" will improve muscle tone/Strength that will last for 4-5 mins. This allows Pt to perform ADL's without assistance. Teach Pt to take 30 mins before meals & carry medical ID card. |

Atropine: Uses in Myasthenia Graves | Anticholinergic, Antidysrhythmic: Dries up secreations, Increases cardiac output, Bronchodilator, Antispasmodic with GU & Bilary surgery. |

Teach Pt take this med decreases the effectiveness of birth control pills, has a teratogenic effect during pregnancy and to perform good oral hygiene. |

Levodopa (carbidopa/levodopa, Sinemet)Used in Parkinson's Disease | Antiparkinson,Dopamine agonists: Used for relief of tremors & rigid. It is converted to dopamine in the CNS, where it acts like a neurotransmitter. Teach Pt to avoid MAO Inhibitors because of risk of hypertensive crisis. |
Bomocriptine (Parlodel), Pergolide (Permax) Used in Parkinson's Disease | Antiparkinson agents, Dopamine agonists: Used for relief of tremors & rigid. Decreases growth hormone levels in acromegaly. |
Trihexyphenidyl (Artane), Benztropine (Cogentin) Used in Parkinson's Disease | Antiparkinson, Anticholinergics: Decreases involuntary movements, Dries up secretions, Decreases sweating and salivation. S/E: Urinary retention |
