Stellate Reticulum Cells A group of cells located in the center of the enamel organ of a developing tooth. -Star shaped cells (protect underlying dental tissues & maintain the shape of tooth) -Synthesizes glycosaminoglycans
Stratum Intermedium Cells A stratified layer of cells located between the inner enamel epithelium & the stellate reticulum. -responsible for tooth enamel formation with inner enamel epithelium.
Outer Enamel Epithelial Cells (External enamel epithelium) A layer of cuboidal cells located on the periphery of the enamel organ in a developing tooth. -First seen during Bell Stage of tooth development. -Enamel organ is composed of Outer Epithelial cells
Inner Enamel Epithelial Cells Innermost layer of odontogenic organ, which develops into the enamel-producing ameloblasts. -located on rim nearest to the dental papilla of the enamel organ.
Amelogenesis Imperfecta A group of developmental conditions which affect the structure and clinical appearance of enamel of all or nearly all teeth in a more or less equal manner. (may be associated with morphologic or biochemical changes elsewhere in the body. )
Reduced Enamel Epithelium epithelial covering of the enamel after its formation is completed. -functions as protective layer - takes place on enamel surface
