Metaphase | Centrioles and chromatid pairs attach to centromere line up in the middle of the cell. Centrioles attach to chromosomes by mitotic spindles |
Anaphase | Division of cell begins, chromosomes (identical sets of chromatids) move to opposite ends of cell. |
Telophase | Cleavage occurs, nuclear membrane reappears, nucleoli appear, mitotic spindles disappear, centrioles disappear so that each cell is identical |
Meiosis | occurs in sex cells; daughter cell pairs with germ cell of opposite sex reducing the 46 chromosomes to 23. |
