Term | Definition |
---|---|
Prophase of Mitosis | Chromatin threads shorten and thicken and become chromosomes that become visible; synapsis occurs and crossing over can happen between homologous chromosomes |
Anaphase of Mitosis | Division and movement of completed identical sets of chromatids (chromosomes) to opposite ends of cells |
Metaphase of Mitosis | Centromeres and chromatids pairs attach to centromere and line up in the middle of the cell |
Telophase of Mitosis | Nuclear membrane reappears, nucleoli appear, and chromosomes lengthen and form chromatin thread; centrioles duplicate so each cell has completely identical properties |
Meiosis | Process of reduction division in which the number of chromosomes per cell is cut in half throughout the separation of homologous chromosomes in a diploid cell. |
