Meckel's Cartilage (pg.41) | 1st arch (mandibular arch) during 5th week of embryology -> Ear: malleus, incus -> Mandible forms from Meckel's cartilage -> Muscle: -> Nerve: V (Trigeminal) |
Squamosal Suture (pg.45) | A beveled or overlapping type junction. example: between the parietal and temporal bones on the sides of the head. |
Simple Suture (pg. 45) | Uncomplicated band of tissue between bony fronts. Osteoblasts appear along the opposing bony fronts and form bone to provide growth of this suture. |
Serrated Suture (pg.45) | An interdigitating type of suture -> Interdigitating extensions of bone from both adjacent surfaces. Connective tissue appears between these bony fronts. (Strong suture) |
Anterior Auricular Hillocks (pg. 50-51) | Forms from Branchial arch I (mandibular arch) -> left 3 auricular hillocks formed --> later, it merges with the another auricular hillocks formed from posterior auricular hillocks to complete the ear development |
