Chem: Periodic Table

The Periodic Table

QuestionAnswer
The Periodic Table a tabular arrangement of the chemical elements according to atomic number as based on the periodic law.
Groups each vertical column in the table.
Periods the rows across the table.
The Alkali Metals a series of chemical elements forming Group 1 (IUPAC style) of the periodic table: lithium (Li), sodium (Na), potassium (K), rubidium (Rb), caesium (Cs), and francium (Fr).
The Alkaline Earth Metals a series of elements comprising Group 2 (Group IIA) of the periodic table: beryllium, magnesium , calcium , strontium , barium and radium.
The Halogens a series of nonmetal elements from Group 17
The Noble Gases a group of chemical elements with very similar properties: under standard conditions, they are all odorless, colorless, monatomic gases, with a very low chemical reactivity.
