POPULATION

QuestionAnswer
POPULATION DENSITY Tells us the number of people living in each square kilometre of an area.
DEATH RATE This is the number of people who die for every 1 000 people each year
CENSUS It is a survey of all the people who live in a country. It tells us how many people have been born, have died, and have moved to or away from the country since the last census was done. This information can be used to study many aspects of the population.
BIRTH RATE This is the number of babies that are born for every 1 000 people each year.
LIFE EXPECTANCY This is the average number of years that a person is expected to live.
NATURAL INCREASE Is the difference between the total number of births and the total number of deaths
IMMIGRATION This is the number of people who have come to live in the country in a year.
EMIGRATION Is the number of people who have moved out of the country in a year.
FERTILITY RATE This is the average number of children per woman between 15 and 49 years old.
NET MIGRATION Is the difference between the total number of immigrants and the total number of emigrants
