Synergy model

What are the important aspect of critical care nursing in helping the pt. and family to manage their response to critical illness? STRESS, CRISIS, FEAR/ANXIETY, LONELINESS, POWERLESSNESS, ANGER, DEPRESSION, DENIAL, DEATH AND DYING.
What are the ethical principles that guide nursing care? RESPECT, AUTONOMY, BENEFICENCE, NONMALEFICENCE, AND JUSTICE
What is the SYNERGY MODEL? The needs or characteristics of patients and families influence and drive the characteristics or competencies of nurses.
According to the SYNERGY MODEL, when are synergy needs met? Synergy results when the needs and characteristics of a patient, clinical unit, or system are matched by a nurse's competencies. When the pt. needs and nursing competencies are aligned, pt. outcomes are optimized.
The SYNERGY MODEL identifies eight pt's needs. What are they? STABILITY, COMPLEXITY, PREDICTABILITY, VULNERABILITY, RESILIENCY, PARTICIPATION IN DECISION MAKING, PARTICIPATION IN CARE, RESOURCE AVAILABILITY
The SYNERGY MODEL outlines eight nursing competencies to respond to pt needs in order to enhance outcomes. What are they? CLINICAL JUDGMENT, CLINICAL INQUIRY, CARING PRACTICES, RESPONSE TO DIVERSITY, ADVOCACY, FACILITATION OF LEARNING, COLLABORATION, SYSTEMS THINKING
What are the three levels of the SYNERGY MODEL? PATIENT LEVEL, UNIT LEVEL, SYSTEM LEVEL
What are the optimal outcomes? As the pt. is the primary focus, optimal outcomes are defined as what pts. themselves acknowledge as important.
Which is among the most important needs of family members during critical illness? TO BE KEPT INFORMED
Which ethical principle refers to maximizing possible benefits and minimizing possible harms in providing pt. care? BENEFICENCE
Which term corresponds with serving as a moral agent? ADVOCACY
What ethical priciple focuses on the duty to treat all pts. fairly, distributing the risks and benefits of treatment equally? JUSTICE
What ethical priciple identifies the duty to cause no harm? NONMALEFICENCE
