Bodies of Water and US Regions

Coastal Plain region with lowlands provide many great harbors

Atlantic Ocean The body of water that was a highway for explorers, settlers, and immigrants
Pacific Ocean The body of water that was an exploration destination as a route to Asia
Mississippi River and Missouri River The two rivers used to transport farm and industrial products
St. Lawrence River river that forms part of the northeastern border with Canada; connects Great Lakes to Atlantic Ocean
Colorado River River that was explored by the Spanish
Columbia River River that was explored by Lewis and Clark
Rio Grande river that forms part of the border between the US and Mexico
Gulf of Mexico Body of water that provided the French and Spanish with exploration routes to Mexico and other parts of America
Inland port port on an inland waterway, such as a river, lake, or canal
