setting | where a story takes place (example: the beach, the park, a school) |
emphasize | to draw attention to or make a point of (example: The teacher emphasized that homework was due on Friday.) |
figurative language | words and sentences to visualize or create a picture in your mind (simile, metaphor) |
simile | uses like or as to compare two things. (Example: The ocean was as smooth as glass.) |
conclude | the root word for conclusion: 1. the reader can conclude or infer 2. the ending of the story |
differ | the root word for difference- (example: How are these stories different? How do they differ from each other?) |
