Judaism The religion developed by the Hebrews that Jews practice today.
Monotheism A belief in a single God.
Prophet A person regarded as knowing the will of God
Sabbath Weekly day of rest
Rabbi A Jewish religious teacher
Synagogue A Jewish house of worship
Torah The first five books of the Hebrew Bible
New Testament Writings that form part of the Christian Bible which tell the story of Jesus and his early followers
Gospel One of the first four books of the New Testament that describe the life and teachings of Jesus.
Baptism Ritual cleansing by plunging into water
Crucifixion A Roman method of execution by nailing a person to a wooden cross.
Trinity The three persons, or forms, of God according to Christian Belief: God the Father, God the Son and the Holy Spirit.
Disciple A small band of 12 people who followed Jesus during his life.
Apostle Early Christian leaders chosen by Jesus to spread his message.
Pope The leader of the Roman Catholic Church.
Ethics Beliefs about what is right or wrong
Quran The holy book of Islam
Sunnah Traditions believed by many Muslims to come from the prophet Muhammad
Hajj A Pilgrimage made by Muslims to their holy city of Mecca
Mosque The Islamic house of worship
Sharia Islamic Law
