Contracture | a condition of shortening and hardening of muscles, tendons, or other tissue, often leading to deformity and rigidity of joints. |
Waste products | excreted from or stored in inert form in a living body as a by-product of vital activity. |
Empathy | the ability to understand and share the feelings of another. |
Aging Process | It is a process that goes on over the entire adult life span of any living thing. |
Infection | The invasion and growth of germs in the body. The germs may be bacteria, viruses, yeast, fungi, or other microorganisms. |
Pathogens | a microorganism that causes, or can cause, disease. |
Gloves | personal protective equipment that are used to protect the wearer and/or the patient from the spread of infection or illness during medical procedures and examinations. |
Policy book | a course of action that should be taken every time a certain situation occurs |
Blood pressure | the pressure, measured in millimeters of mercury, within the major arterial system of the body. |
Growth | something that has grown or is growing. |
Breathing | the process of taking air into and expelling it from the lungs. |
Hip replacement | a surgeon removes the damaged sections of your hip joint and replaces them with parts usually constructed of metal, ceramic and very hard plastic. |
Mobility | the ability to move or be moved freely and easily. |
Resident Independence | having full autonomy over one's own life. |

Accidents | an unfortunate incident that happens unexpectedly and unintentionally, typically resulting in damage or injury. |

Combative resident | Resident displaying violent or hostile behavior |
Angry resident | Resident feeling or showing strong discontent or resentment. A person who is clenching his fists and shouting. |
Pulse | a rhythmical throbbing of the arteries as blood is propelled through them, typically as felt in the wrists or neck. |
Vital signs | clinical measurements, specifically pulse rate, temperature, respiration rate, and blood pressure, that indicate the state of a patient's essential body functions. |
Atrophy | (of body tissue or an organ) waste away. Gradually decline in effectiveness or vigor due to underuse or neglect. |
Musculoskeletal | Includes bones, muscles, tendons, ligaments and soft tissues. They work together to support your body's weight and help you move. |
Call light | A device used by a patient to signal his or her need for assistance from professional staff. |
Dehydration | A harmful reduction in the amount of water in the body. |
Dentures | A removable plate or frame holding one or more artificial teeth |
Depression | A common and serious medical illness that negatively affects how you feel, the way you think and how you act. |
Rehabilitation | The action of restoring someone to health or normal life through training and therapy after imprisonment, addiction, or illness. |
Denial | the action of declaring something to be untrue. |
Alzheimer's | Progressive mental deterioration that can occur in middle or old age, due to generalized degeneration of the brain. |
Mask | a covering for all or part of the face, worn as a disguise, or to amuse or terrify other people. |
Protective equipment | Includes clothing, gloves, face shields, goggles, facemasks, respirators, and other equipment to protect front-line workers from injury, infection, or illness. |
Handwashing | The action or process of washing one's hands. |
