TermDefinition
Board of Supervisors: legislative body of county government.
Charter: written grant by state legislature to establish a local government.
City: independent local government seat; a large town
City Council : legislative body of a city government.
Clerk of Circuit Court: constitutional officer who keeps records of legal documents.
Commissioner of Revenue- constitutional officer who assesses property and other local taxes.
Constitutional Officer: 5 officers that the state mandates each local government elect.
County: Local government seat; division of state government
Interest Group- association of individuals based on one or more shared concerns.
.Lobby:- to seek to influence lawmakers to vote for or against a bill.
Manager: local executive for a county or city.
.Mayor:- local executive for a city or town.
Ordinance: law enacted by a local body of government.
Policymaking: lawmaking
School Board: a local board responsible for the maintenance and rule-making of schools.
