Question | Answer |
---|---|
What are the Bones and Joints of the Shoulder | |
What are the Muscles of the Shoulder? | |
What are the movements of the Shoulder? | Flexion/Extension Abduction/Adduction Horizontal Abduction/Adduction Internal/External Rotation |
What are the degeees of the ROM ? | Shoulder Flexion 0-180 • Shoulder Extension 0-60 • Shoulder Abduction 0-180 • Shoulder Adduction 0-50-70 • Horizontal Abd/Add 0-130 • Medial (Internal) Rotation 0-60-100 • Lateral (External) Rotation 0-90 |
What is Scapulohumeral Rhythm ? | once the arm gets above a certain degree of movement, the humerus and scapula move continuously and synchronously at a 2:1 ratio. It Allows for an increased ROM at the glenohumeral joint(avoids impingement) |
What is Scapulohumeral Movement? And at what degress does what occur? | Initial 30 ̊ of glenohumeral abduction does not incorporate scapular motion (setting phase) 30 to 90 ̊ the scapula abducts and upwardly rotates 1 ̊ for every 2 ̊ of humeral elevation Above 90 ̊ the scapula and humerus move in 1:1 ratio |
What are the Scapular Movements? | ABduction & ADduction Elevation & Depression Upward Rotation Downward Rotation Protraction Downward rotation ABduction Anterior tilt Retraction Upward rotation ADduction Posterior tilt |
What are the Anterior Muscles ? | 1. Deltoid • Anterior – flexion • Middle – abduction 2. Pectoralis Major • Flexion 3. Serratus Anterior • Scapula abduction |
What are the Posterior Muscles? | 1. Trapezius • Separate the muscle into 3 regions UPPER, MIDDLE and LOWER. – Upper fibers: Extend neck, elevate scapula – Middle fibers: Adduct scapula – Lower fibers: Depress scapula 2. Latissimus dorsi Adduction 3.Posterior Deltoid Extens |
Palpation of the Anterior Includes what parts of the body? | Sternal notch Sternoclavicular joint (ligament) Clavicle Lesser tuberosity Bicipital groove Greater tuberosity |
Palpation of the Posterior Includes what parts of the body? | Acromion process Acromioclavicular joint Scapular spine Medial border of scapula Inferior angle of scapula Lateral border of scapula |
What are the mechanisms of injury ? | Direct trauma Indirect trauma Chronic overuse |
Where do common acute injuries occur and what type of injury? | A fracture in the clavicle |
