ion An atom or group of atoms that has a positive or negative charge.
cation A positively charged ion
anion A negatively charged ion

ionic bonding Chemical bonding that results from the electrical attraction between cations and anions
binary ionic compound a compound composed of the ions of one metal element and ions of on non-metal element

electrically neutral an object that has equal amounts of positive and negative charges
isotropic The same in all directions
