Flexion of Neck | Bring chin to rest on chest |
Extension of Neck | Return head to erect position |
Hyperextension of Neck | Bend head back as far as possible |
Lateral flexion of Neck | Tilt head as far as possible toward each shoulder |
Rotation of Neck | Turn head as far aspossible in circular movement |
Flexion of Shoulder | Raise arm from side position forward to position above head |
Extension of Shoulder | Return arm to position at side of body |
Hyperextension of Shoulder | Move arm behind body, keeping elbow straight |
Abduction of Shoulder | Raise arm to side to position above head with palm awayfrom head |
Adduction of Shoulder | Lower arm sideways and across body as far as possible |
Internal Rotation of Shoulder | With elbow flexed, rotate shoulder by moving arm until thumb is turned inward and towardback (Princess Diana wave and drop hand in robot move) |
External rotation of Shoulder | With elbow flexed, move arm until thumb isupward and lateral to head (robot move to Princess Diana wave) |
Circumduction of Shoulder | Move arm in full circle (Circumduction is combination of all movements of ball-and-socket joint.) (Pitching softball) |
Flexion of Elbow | Bend elbow so that lower arm moves toward its shoulder joint and hand is level with shoulder (Come here move like directing airplane, hand ends up in front of face) |
Extension of Elbow | Straighten elbow by lowering hand (Start with hands in front of face, then lower to 'Open Arms' position) |
Supination of Forearm | Turn lower arm and hand so palm is up (slap hand game) |
Pronation of Forearm | Turn lower arm so that palm is down (slap hand game) |
Flexion of Wrist | Move palm toward inner aspect of forearm (move hand down like gay) |
Extension of Wrist | Move fingers and hand posterior to midline (like saying Hi) |
Hyperextension of Wrist | Bring dorsal surface of hand back as far as possible |
Abduction of Wrist | Place hand with palm down and extend wrist laterally toward 5th finger |
Adduction of Wrist | Place hand with palm down and extend wrist medially toward thumb |
Flexion of Fingers | Make fist |
Extension of Fingers | Straighten fingers |
Hyperextension of Fingers | Bend fingers back as far as possible |
Abduction of Fingers | Spread fingers apart |
Adduction of Fingers | Bring fingers together |
Flexion of Thumb | Move thumb across palmar surface of hand |
Extension of Thumb | Move thumb straight away from hand |
Abduction of Thumb | Extend thumb laterally |
Adduction of Thumb | Move thumb back toward hand |
Opposition of Thumb | Touch thumb to each finger of same hand |
Flexion of Hip | Move leg forward and up |
Extension of Hip | Move back beside other leg |
Hyperextension of Hip | Move leg behind body |
Abduction of Hip | Move leg away laterally from body |
Adduction of Hip | Move led back toward medial position |
Internal Rotation of Hip | Turn foot and leg toward other leg (pigeon toe) |
