Levator veli palatine | temporal bone/median palatine raphe | raises soft palate to contact posterior pharyngeal wall to help close off nasopharynx |
tensor veli talatine | auditory tube and interior surface of sphenoid bone/becomes tendon near hamulus, forms palatine aponeurosis and inserts at median palatine raphe | tenses and slightly lowers soft palate. 'pop ears' |
