Dialysis | Separation of substances by passage through a membrane |
Acidosis | Excessive acidity of body fluids (An increase in hydrogen ion concentration) Bicarbonate/Base is lost. |
Alkalosis | Loss of acid from the blood. Overabundance of bicarbonate. (Decrease in hydrogen ion concentration) |
Hemodialysis | Removal of unwanted substances from the blood by passage through a semipermeable membrane. |
Dehydration | Excessive loss of body fluids |
Diuresis | Excretion of urine (Increased Urinary Excretion) |
Enuresis | Involuntary urination usually at night (Bedwetting) |
Polyuria | Elimination of large amounts of urine, as in diabetes mellitus |
Oliguria | Elimination of small amounts of urine |
Micturition | Voiding of urine |
Uremia | Presence of toxic levels of urea and nitrogenous substances in the blood as a result of renal insufficiency |
