Identify different products used for oral hygiene and their uses.
Term | Definition |
---|---|
1. Toothbrushes | motion helps to easily dislodge plaque and remove food particles from around the gums and teeth. |
2. Dental floss/tape | removes food particles trapped between teeth that your toothbrush misses, helping to reduce plaque and the likelihood of tooth decay and gum disease. |
3. Interdental aids | These tiny brushes are gentle on the gums and very effective in cleaning the contours of teeth in between the gums. |
4. Toothpastes | strengthen tooth enamel and prevent tooth decay. Many also have ingredients that fight tooth sensitivity, gingivitis (early-stage gum disease), bad breath, or hardened plaque called tartar. |
5. Mouth rinses | Some help reduce plaque and prevent gingivitis; others contain fluoride to help fight cavities. Some can control or mask bad breath. |
