1. Oral cancer | forms in the oral cavity, which includes all parts of your mouth that you can see if you open wide and look in the mirror. forms when cells on the lips or in the mouth mutate. ie. red & white plaques. |
2. Candidiasis (thrush) | a condition in which the fungus accumulates on the lining of your mouth. Candida is a normal organism in your mouth, but can overgrow and cause symptoms. causes creamy white lesions, usually on your tongue or inner cheeks. can spread. |
3. Cellulitis | A severe tooth infection can lead to a bacterial build-up called dental abscess. If you don't get treatment for an abscess, the bacteria can spread to the neighboring tissues on your face. As a result, you can get -- on your cheeks and around your eyes. |
4. Fissured tongue | harmless condition that changes the shape of your tongue's surface. has a deep, prominent groove in the middle. You may also find small furrows or cracks across the surface, making your tongue look wrinkled. |
5. Geographic tongue | a common condition. It appears on the top and sides of the tongue, and sometimes on the under-surface. The tongue develops irregular, smooth, red areas, which may look like the outline of a map. There are usually wavy white lines next to the red patches. |
6. Glossitis | a condition in which your tongue becomes inflamed and swollen. Causes include allergic reactions, infections and dry mouth. |
7. Herpes | an infection of the lips, mouth, or gums due to the -- simplex virus. It causes small, painful blisters commonly called cold sores or fever blisters. |
8. “Meth Mouth” | characterized by severe tooth decay and gum disease, which often causes teeth to break or fall out. |
9. Eating Disorders | tooth decay, tooth sensitivity, gum recession around the base of the molars, receding gums, broken teeth, increased plaque buildup along the gum line, and loose or separating fillings. |
