Term given to describe wasting away or deterioration. Atrophy
Term used for the presence of bacteria in the blood. Bacteremia
Term for inflammation of the mucous membranes of the bronchial tubes. Bronchitis
A mental disorder characterized by loss of memory, concentration and judgement. Dementia
A metabolic disorder characterized by high blood glucose and insufficient insulin produced by the body. Diabetes Mellitus
The abnormal increase in the size of the air spaces in the lungs resulting in labored breathing and increase susceptibility to infection. Emphysema
Term used for the inflammation of the endocardium lining of the heart. Endocarditis
A neurologic disorder with sudden recurring seizures of motor, sensory, or psychic malfunction. Epilepsy
Term given for the blood coagulation disorder in which the blood fails to clot normally. Hemophilia
Term for the condition when the blood glucose level is high and body is not properly using or making insulin. Hyperglycemia
Term for the condition resulting from an overactive thyroid gland. Hyperthyroidism
Term for the condition when the blood glucose level is very low. Hypoglycemia
Term for a type of cancer of the blood and bone marrow that produces an increased number or immature or abnormal white cells. Leukemia
Term for the condition in which damage occurs to the muscular tissue of the heart, AKA heat attack. Myocardial Infarction
Term for the disease that causes pain, stiffness, swelling and loss of function in the joints. Rheumatoid Arthritis
Term for an uncontrolled electrical disturbance in the brain, causing a spasm or convulsion. Seizure
Term for a sudden loss of brain function caused by a blockage or rupture of a blood vessel to the brain. Stroke
Term used for the loss of saliva production causing dry mouth. Xerostomia
