Medication timing abbreviations for HLHS
Term | Definition |

BID | To be taken twice daily From the Latin phrase "bis in die", which means "two in a day" |
TID | To be taken three (3) times daily From the Latin phrase ter in die, which means "three in a day" |
Q | To be taken every x Ex. Q4hr would mean every 4(x) hours or Q3 days would be every 3(x) days. |
QD * | To be taken daily From the Latin phrase quaque die, which means "each day" *the usage of this term is considered widely prohibited* |
QID * | To be taken four (4) times daily From the Latin phrase quater in die, which means "four in a day" *the usage of this term is considered widely prohibited* |
QHS | To be taken at night From the Latin phrase quaque hora somni, which means "each night at the hour of sleep" |
AC | To be taken before meals From the Latin phrase ante cibum, which means "before food" |
PC | To be taken after meals From the Latin phrase post cibum, which means "after food" |
PRN | To be taken as needed From the Latin phrase per re nata, which means "as the need arises" |
