Populism US political movement that sought to represent the interestes of farmers and laborers in the 1890s.
Industrialization To become industrial.
Suffrage The right or priviledge of voting.
Electioneering To work actively for a candidate or political party.
Inheritance Something received from an ancestor by legal succession or will.
Lobby A group of persons trying to influence public officials in favor of a specific cause.
Foreclosure THe ending of the rights of a debtor to personal property.
Socialism THeories or systems of social organization in which the means of producing and distributing goods is owned collectively or by a centralized government that often plans and controls the economy.
Progressive Promoting or favoring progress toward better conditions or new policies, ideas, or methods.
Moral Conforming to standards of what is right or just in behavior.
Inaugural Address A speech given by a person being formally inducted into office.
Materialism The attitude that physical well-being and worldly possessions create the greatest good.
Temperance Restraint in the use of or abstinence from alcoholic liquors.
Prohibition The period during which the 18th Amendment forbidding the sale and manufacture of alcoholic beverages was enforced.
Ratify To approve.
Utopian Characterized by or aspiring to impracticable perfection.
