Vocabulary from the unit CV and interview

TermDefinition
Curriculum vitae (resume) a short written description of your education, qualifications, previous jobs, and sometimes also your personal interests, which you send to an employer when you are trying to get a job
Skills activities that you do well
References people who have known you for at least a year and can provide information about your skills, character, and achievements
Qualifications an official record showing that you have finished a training course
Recruit to persuade someone to work for a company or become a new member of an organization
Vacancy unfilled position
Interview A formal, personal meeting, esp. one arranged for formal discussion or to evaluate an applicant.
Headhunters a person who identifies and approaches suitable candidates employed elsewhere to fill business positions.
Application a formal request to be considered for a position or to be allowed to do or have something, submitted to an authority, institution, or organization.
Work experience This section of the resume lists your work experience, accomplishments and responsibilities from prior jobs.
Cover letter A letter you send with your resume to provide more information about you.
Selection process the process of selection and shortlisting of the right candidates with the necessary qualifications and skill set to fill the vacancies in an organisation.
Graduate a person who has a first degree from a university or college
Computer-literate familiar with the operation of computers.
Motivated very enthusiastic or determined because you really want to do something
Self-driven motivated to do or achieve something because of one's own enthusiasm or interest;
Highly-skilled having specialized training, knowledge and experience in order to carry out complex physical and mental tasks.
Unskilled not having or requiring special skill or training.
Interviewer the person who asks the questions in an interview
Interviewee person in an interview who answers questions
Work history a record of the jobs you have held and how long you stayed with each employer
Education a degree, level, or kind of schooling
Candidate a person who applies for a job
Degree an academic rank conferred by a college or university after examination or after completion of a course, or conferred as an honor on a distinguished person.
