Client injury
For a client injury, licensee/student must

Step 1 | Stop the service |
Step 2 | Explain situation to client |
Step 3 | Proceed to the hand-washing area equipped with first aid supplies |
Step 4 | Licensee/student must wash your hands with soap and running water and dry with a disposable towel |
Step 5 | Place the disposable towel in the waste container |
Step 6 | Remove adhesive bandage and antibiotic cream from first aid kit |
Step 7 | If injury is on the hand, assist client to sink, have them wash the punctured area with soap and running water and dry with a disposable towel |
Step 8 | Place the disposable towel in the waste container |
Step 9 | Licensee/student must apply protective gloves |
Step 10 | If injury was not on the hand, it must be cleansed with an antibiotic cream |
Step 11 | Offer or assist |
Step 11 l | Cleanse injured area with antibiotic cream |
Step 11 ll | Offer a sterile adhesive bandage |
Step 12 | Place all single-use items in waste container |
Step 13 | Remove implements from work station and placed in "to be disinfected" container, then properly clean and disinfect implements |
Step 14 | Clean and disinfect station |
Step 15 | Remove gloves from hands and dispose of immediately in waste container |
Step 16 | Wash hands with soap and running water |
Step 17 | Dry hands with a clean towel or paper towel |
Step 18 | Put on disposable, protective gloves |
Step 19 | Return to service |
