Alliance An agreement to work together in war or trade.
Ambush A surprise attack.
Articles of Confederation written document that outlined the roles of the national government of the United States.
Colonial Having to do with the colonies.
Continental Congress A group of representatives from each of the 13 colonies that led the U.S. through the Revolutionary War making laws and military decisions.
Guerrilla Warfare Trying to tire out an enemy by cutting off their supplies and using sneak attacks.
Independence To not be controlled by another, able to make your own decisions.
Liberty Freedom
Line Formation When soldiers stood in a line and took turns firing at each other.
Militia A group of volunteer soldiers.
Patriot A colonist who wanted to separate from England.
Revolt To fight against a group that has power.
Revolution To fight a war for independence.
Self-government When a country has control over its own government
Strategy Plan
Treaty An agreement of peace
Treaty of Paris The agreement that ended the Revolutionary War.
Turning Point The point in a war where one side goes from losing to winning.
Unite To come together under one government or leadership.
