aura | premonitary awareness of an approaching physical and mental disorder |
sciatica | severe pain along the thigh and leg |
electroencephalography | recording of the electrical activity in the brain by placing electrodes on the skin |
asthenia | weakness or disability |
anesthesia | without feeling or sensation |
bradykinesia | slow movement |
Electromyography | graphic recording of muscle contractions |
paresthesia | sensation of numbness, prickling, tingling, or heightened sensitivity |
tranquilizers | calm anxiety or aggitation without decrease in level of consciousness |
closed head injury | injury to the head in which the dura mater is intact and the brain tissue is not exposed |
cerebral angiography | visualization of the cerebral vascular system after injection of radiopaque dye into the carotid or vertebral artery. |

alzheimer's | a progressive neurological disorder that causes memory loss and serious mental deterioration. Small plaques develop in the cerebral cortex |
Parkinson's Disease | shaking palsy, progressive disease that affects the part of the brain controlling movement. Uncontrolled nodding, tremors, suffling gait and decreased speed of movement |
Multiple Sclerosis | progressive degenerative disease of the CNS |
epilepsy | disorder that involves electrical disturbancs in the brain that result in abnormal recurrent uncontrolled electrical discharges |
psychosis | serious mental disorder commonly characterized by delusions and hallucinations |
neuralgia | pain in a nerve |
