Yahwist Source | written in Judah during United Monarchy. Uses name YHWH (God's personal name only known by Moses). Portrays God in human form. |
Priestly Source | written during the exile or after the return. uses name Elohim until his personal name was revealed. Transcendent view of God (throwned in Heaven). Formulaic and repetitive. |

Sabbath | Seventh of creation. Celebrated by Jews to represent rest, cannot do ANY work. |

Divine council | group of God's advisors (angels). Who Jews believe God is talking to in the text when he uses "us/our" |
Adam | The first human to be created by God, from dust and awakened by his breath. |

Satan (shayton, iblis) | classification of beings that are tempters; in Christianity and Islam; enemy of humans; angel that disobeyed God and was banished to hell, seeks after human souls |
Original sin | The idea that we are all born into sin because Adam and Eve ate from the tree of life and sinned |
Prot-evangelium | The first mention of christ; Jesus is coming; "the offspring of the woman will crush head of the serpent" |
Trinity | God the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, who Christians believe God was talking to when saying "us/our" |
Logos | words; cosmic reason and divine wisdom |
Preexistent Torah | Wisdom in the Torah that was with God before he established life |
Preexistent Christ | wisdom as logos, Jesus was with God before he established life |
Incarnation | enfleshing of the world |
Apocalypse | new creation: Revelation 21-22; unveiling; cosmic battle between good and evil |
New heaven and new earth | present: home of God with mortals, water as gift of life, light, tree of life -immortality , no sin absent: sea-watery abyss (chaos), death, mourning, pain, sun and moon, darkness, anything cursed in the beginning |
Paul/saul | Paul: gentile name; roman citizen; born in tarsus Saul: jewish name; pharisee; studied in jerusalem conversion on road to Damascus missionary to gentiles most important thing about Jesus is ressurection |
