Aryan | Sanskrit ārya noble, belonging to an ancient people of northern India speaking an Indo-European dialect |
Ghetto (WWII version) | Italian, from Venetian dialect ghèto island where Jews were forced to live, literally, foundry (located on the island), from ghetàr to cast, from Latin jactare to throw |
Refugee | French réfugié, past participle of (se) réfugier to take refuge, from Middle French refugier, from Latin refugium |
Genocide | the deliberate and systematic destruction of a racial, political, or cultural group |
Antisemitism | hostility toward or discrimination against Jews as a religious, ethnic, or racial group |
Torah | the body of wisdom and law contained in Jewish Scripture and other sacred literature and oral tradition |
Bias | a personal and sometimes unreasoned judgment : PREJUDICE an instance of such prejudice |
Holocaust | the mass slaughter of European civilians and especially Jews by the Nazis during World War II |
Mischlinge | Nazi Germany to denote persons of mixed "Aryan" and non-Aryan, such as Jewish, ancestry as they were classified by the Nuremberg racial laws of 1935 |
Scapegoat | a goat upon whose head are symbolically placed the sins of the people after which he is sent into the wilderness in the biblical ceremony for Yom Kippur |
