Ancient Israelities. their ancestors were Abraham and his family.
The Essenes. were priests who broke away from the temple in Jerusalem.
Judaism. played an important role in the development of Christianity and Islam.
Judah. the kingdom of Judah borders the Red Sea.
Assyrians and Chaldeans. wanted Canaan to control the trade routes across it.
The Ten Commandments. formed the basic moral rules for many nations.
Babylonian Exile. period of time when the Judeans were sent to Babylon by Nebuchadnezzar.
Diaspora. the Jews who lived out of Judah; Greek word that means "scattered".
Abraham and his family. were the ancestors of the ancient Israelites.
Palestine. name given to Judea by the Romans refers to Philistines.
What Jewish beliefs are shared by Christians and Muslims? They are mono theistic, they believe in one God. They all believe that evil and suffering will eventually be replaced by goodness.
Samuel. the early Israelites asked him to choose a king.
Samaritans. developed a mixed culture while living among the Israelites.
