TermDefinition
Common Good Acting in ways that benefit all people. Ex. Police and Fire departments
Civic Participation Active in your political system. Ex. Voting in elections
Liberty the state of being free from oppressive restrictions. Ex. The right to own and carry guns
self-Rule Government ran by the people. Ex. Voting for your local representee of state
Natural Rights Rights people are born with that cannot be taken away. Ex Liberty.
Limited Government government whose power is limited by the restrictions set forth in a constitution. Ex. Judicial checks: The Supreme Court can make decisions on cases, but Congress can check those decisions by passing amendments to the Constitution.
Values The fundamental benefits and principles that guide your life. Ex. Courage and gratitude.
Haman Dignity It means being valued and respected for what you are, what you believe in, and how you live your live. Ex. Respecting someone’s personal space and listening attentively when they speak
Individualism The belief that people are self-reliant and don't need the government to make choices for us. Ex. choosing your own fashion
Civility formal politeness and courtesy in behavior or speech: Ex. Show respect towards others.
popular Sovereignty The government's power comes from the people. Ex. The Constitution of the United States of America
Freedom the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint. Ex. Freedom of information
