Contracture | Permanent shortening of contracture of a muscle due to immobility |

Enabler | Device that empowers patients and assists them to function at their highest possible level |
Fowler’s Position | when the patient is elevated from 45 to 60 degrees |
High Fowlers | when the bed is elevated to 90 degrees |
Laceration | Accidental break in skin, An injury |

Mobility | Ability to move or be moved from place to place |
Orthopneic position | The patient sits up to breathe comfortbly |
Orthotic devices | Device that restore or improve function and prevent deformity |
Postural support | Device used as an enabler that maintains body position and alignment |
Pressure injury | injuries to the skin associated with open areas from friction shearing pressure and other causes of injury |

Spasticity | Sudden frequent, involuntary muscle contractions that impair functions |
Splint | Type of orthosis used to maintain position and prevent contractures of the arm and hand |
Supine | laying with the face upward |
Supportive device | used to help maintain a patient's body in a specific position |
Transfer | Procedure followed when changing a patient's location |
Trochanter roll | Rolled sheet or bath blanket placed under the patient |
