Aqueous Solutions

Aqueous Solution a mixture where water acts as the solvent
Solute a substance that dissolves in another substance (called a solvent) to form a solution
Solvent a substance, usually a liquid, that has the ability to dissolve other substances (called solutes) to form a solution
Concentration he amount of a substance (called the solute) present in a given volume of a mixture or solution
Saturation the point where a solution contains the maximum amount of a solute that can be dissolved under given conditions
Homogenous Mixture a combination of two or more substances where the components are uniformly distributed throughout
Saturated Solution a solution that contains the maximum amount of solute that can dissolve in a given solvent under specific conditions of temperature and pressure
Dilution the process of decreasing the concentration of a solute in a solution by adding more solvent, like water, to it
Unsaturated Solution a solution where the amount of dissolved solute is less than the maximum amount that can be dissolved in the solvent at a given temperature
