plane imaginary line
sagittal section cut made along the lenghtwise or longitudinal plane of the body dividing the body into right and left parts
midsagittal or median section cut made down the median plane of the body and the right and left parts are equal in size
frontal section cut made along a lengthwise plane that divides the boy into posterior and anterior
coronal section =frontal section
transverse section cut made along a horizontal plane, dividing the body or organ into superior an inferior parts (this = cross section)
mediastinum a central region that seperates the lungs into right and left cavaties in the thoracic cavity (it houses the heart, trachea, and other visceral organs)
