Energy Balance and Weight Control

Know some weight gain strategies Eat energy dense food, eat extra times in a day, drink juice or milk, and add extra items to your food
Anorexia Nervosa Self starvation, abnormal body view, often associated with family problems, a need to control, and lack of identity
Consequences of Anorexia Nervosa Anemia, dry skin, diarrhea, insomnia, heart failure, amenorrhea (no monthly period)
Bulimia Vomiting or use lactates to lose weight, socially insecure, depressed, impulsive, and worry a lot; associated with family problems, alcoholic parents and sexual abuse
Consequences of Bulimia Poor immune system, fluid/ mineral imbalance, tooth erosion, torn esophagus, arrhythmias (irregular heart beat), kidney and heart failure
