Plessy vs Ferguson -Supreme cout case in 1896 -ruled segregation legal -"seperate but equal"
Resisting Discrimination -black leaders tried to find ways to end discrimination -essays about the wrongs of discrimination began to be written -advocated black pride
Mary White Obington -white social worker -concerned with race relations problems -called for conference in 1909
NAACP -from the conference comes this organization -purpose: abolish segregation and discrimination and gain civil rights for blacks -work through politics to gain goals -Major leader: WEB Dubois
