Factors involved in a patient's history | Current disease state, ethnic, religion, education status, income level, drugs, and usual diet |
Anthropometrics | Body measurements |
Macrocytic RBC | Large RBC usually indicates B-12 deficiency |
Microcytic RBC | Small RBC usually indicates Iron deficiency |
Hypochromic | Too little hemoglobin in RBC, indicate too little iron or protein |
Normochromic | Normal amount of hemoglobin |
Hematocrit | Percent of RBC in the blood |
Protoporphyrin | Molecule that joins w/ iron to make Heme, build up in blood if iron is low |
Serum Albumin | Protein in blood, helps maintain fluid and electrolytes balance, transport many items |
Low level of Serum Albumin | Indicates prolonged protein depletion or serous dieases |
