Parenteral Nutrition

D#W | D: Dextrose, #: percent of dextrose, W: water |
TPN | Totally parenteral nutrition, 2500 cal/day, best suited for 2 wks or less |
Respiratory Acidosis | Low blood pH b/c improper lung function, can be worsen by glucose oxidation |
Phlebitis | Inflammation of vein |
Cyclic Infusion | Periodic administration of IV feedings, allows insulin to rise and fall like normal |
