Peptic Ulcers Erosion in the stomach lining, major cause- bacteria and drugs that increase acid production
Dumping Syndrome Rapid emptying of undigested food into jejunum, usually after stomach surgery
Postgastrectomy Diet Carbs control diet which slows the passage of food to prevent dumping syndrome, usually high in iron
Blind Loop Syndrome Left over section of intestine after some stomach surgery, bacteria overgrows and depleted Vit B12, folate and bile
What the diet recommendation of dyspepsia? Anacids or eat slowly or small meals
What do anacids with sodium cause? Hypertension
What do anacids with calcium cause? Kidney stones
What do anacids with aluminum cause? Depletion of phosphorus and cause constipation and weak bones
What is acute gastritis caused by? Alcohol or drug
What is chronic gastritis caused by? Usually unknown cause
What is the diet recommendation for gastritis? Bland diet
What do dumping syndrome cause? Water moves from the body into the intestine to dilute food; diarrhea, weakness, dizziness and low BP
