Cardiovascular Disorder Treatments

Correct cardiovascular rish factors, avoid precipitating factors,surgical interventions and medications Angina Pectoris
Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty (PTCA), Coronary artery bypass graft surgery and medications. Myocardial Infarction
Medications, oxygen, bedrest, HOB elevated, monitor fluid retention (weigh daily 2.2 obs = 1 liter of body fluid) and strict I&O. Congestive Heart Failure
High fowlers Orthopneic position, oxygen, and medications. Pulmonary Endema
Restrict Activities, sodium restricted diet, diuretics, medications and surgical options. (Open mitral commissurotomy or valve replacement). Valvular Heart Disease
Prevention (treat infections rapidly and completely with penicillin), bedrest, Nsaid's, application of heat, well balanced diet (supplement with B & C), encourage fluids and commissurotomy or valve replacement. Rheumatic Heart Disease
Oxygen, iv fluids, salicylates, antiobiotics antiinflammatory agents and surger (pericardial window or pericardial tap) Pericarditis
Bedrest, antibiotics (iv 1-2 months), prophylactic antibiotics for high risk patients and or surgical repair of diseased valves or valve replacement. Endocarditis
Bedrest, oxygen, antibiotics, antiinflammatory agents, and assessment of correction of dysrhthmias. Myocarditis
