Why did Richard Henry Lee have to return to Virginia to speak to the legislature before he could present the Virginia Resolution? he had to ensure he had their approval
What was Adam's argument on independence? Adams argued that the king abuses their loyalty and takes advantage of them. When a king abuses his citizens he looses the right to rule. ( in short king is a tyrant)
What is J.Dickinson's debate on independence? colonies should remain loyal to the king and their mother country, revolution was treason, king should not be called a tyrant
What suggestion does Adams make to stall for time before voting for independence? Adams says they should wait and write a declaration informing King George of what's going on and why their doing it; and to be a statement to the world
Suggestions for a national bird? dove, eagle, turkey
Objections to the original draft of the constitution: no mention of god, mean language to the British people, king referred to as a tyrant, slavery language
What was Rutledge's complaint about the declaration? Slavery was to be abolished, yet even the North profited from it

Why did the Southern delegation leave the convention? the south wasn't ready to abolish slavery
Why did the southern delegation return to the convention? they returned to see what Adams would do with the language in the constitution
What did Dickenson do to show his protest of the celaration but his support of the new United States? he withdrew membership from congress but will join the Continental Army
What personal danger did the delgates face because they signed the declaration? treason
Who wanted "unalienable" and who wanted "inalienable"? Which is it? Adams wanted unalienable. Jefferson wanted inalienable; its unalienable
