Shay's Rebellion after the Revolutionary War, the economic depression hit farmers especially hard. In Massachusetts, things were made worse when the state raised taxes and seized the farms of those who could not pay the new taxes.
Shay's Rebellion - continued Massachusetts' farmer, Daniel Shays led a force of 2,000 farmers around the state attacking the courthouses. This rebellion proved to many Americans that the Articles of Confederation was not working and needed to be changed.
