CRCT Vocabulary

words you need to know for CRCT

QuestionAnswer
revision/revised to alter/change something already written or printed, in order to make corrections or to improve it
demonstrate to describe, explain, or illustrate by examples
opposing viewpoint opposite view or opinion (like the Knockback in a persuasive essay)
engage the reader grab the reader's attention
establish a context the most important reason in a persuasive essay or paragraph (like the POW Moment)
phrase a group of words such as a verb phrase (was walking) or prepositional phrase (at the store) or transitional phrase (as you can see)
transition word or phrase connectors that tie one idea or sentence to another (another, however, most importantly, since...)
chronological order time order (first, next, last....)
spatial order words or phrases that organize details according to their location (on the left side, in front of, behind...)
cause and effect a relationship between actions or events such that the effect is the result of the cause
coherence when the details in a paragraph are arranged and connected in a way that makes sense
relate to have some relation to
irrelevant not related or applicable to the topic - not important
relevant is related or applicable to the topic - important
source a reference source to find information about a topic
bibliography a list of reference sources used
