Trophic Level Step in a food web or food chain.
Biomass Total amount of living tissue within a given trophic level.
Biogeochemical cycle Process in which elements chemical compounds, and other forms of matter are passed from one organism to another to form one part of the biosphere to another.
Limiting nutrients Single nutrient that either is scarce or cycles very slowly, limiting the growth of organisms in an ecosystem.
Weather Condtion of Earths atmosphere at a particular time and space.
Climate Average year after year condition of Temp. precipitation in a particular region.
Green House Effect Heat is retained in earths atmosphere by CO2,methane,water vapor, and other gases.
Biotic Factor Biological influence on organisms within an ecosystem.
Abiotic Factor Physical or non living factor that shapes an ecosystem.
Niche Full range of physical and biological conditions in which an organism lives.
Logistic Growth Growth patern in which a population's growth rate slows or stops.
Carrying capacity Largest number of individuals of a population.
Demography Scientific study of human population.
Demographic Transition Change in population in birth and growth rates to low birth and growth rates.
Green Revolution Development of highly productive crop strains.
Renewable Resources Can regeernate Quickly and that is replaceable.
Polluttant Harmful material that can enter the biosphere throuh the land,air and ground.
Biodiversity Biological diversity;the sum total of the variety of organisms in tha biosphere.
Biological Magnification Increasing concentration of a harmful substance in organisms in a higher trophic levels in a food chain or food web.
