QuestionsAnswers
Triangular trade A system in which goods and slaves were traded among the Americas, Britian, and Africa.
The Great Awakening A religious movement that swept through the colonies in the 1730s and 1740s.
The French & Indian War King Philip' war: in 1675 the conflict began. Opposed the colonists' efforts to take his people's land. The war ended in 1676. Many were killed
Proclamation Act (line) of 1763 This was an act that upset many colonists. They hated it and it was horriable.
Samuel Adams He belived that Parliament could not tax the colonists without their permission.
Boycott
Stamp Act of 1765 This act required colonists to pay for an official stamp, or seal, when they bought paper items.
Repeal Great Britian repealed the stamp, sugar, and tea act after the colonists got angry.
Townshend Acts 1767 June 1767: These acts placed duties on glass, lead, paints, paper, and tea.
Boston Massacre 1770 Colonist called the shooting the Boston Massacre.
Boston Tea Party 1773 After dumping over 340 tea chests into the Boston Harbor, the colonists headed home to remove their disguises. Known as the Boston Tea Party.
Sons of Liberty The Sons of Liberty were people who protested against the King and asked for freedom and more rights.
Intolerable Acts 1774 In spring of 1774 it passed the Coercive Acts. But colonists called it the Intolerable Acts.
First Continental Congress 1774 A gathering in the fall of 1774 of delegates from throughout the colonies.
Battle of Lexington-Concord 1775
Minutemen Members of the civilian volunteer militia.
Second Continental Congress 1775 May 1775: Delegates from 12 colonies met in Philadelphia for the Second Continental Congress.
Battle of Bunker Hill 1775 Proved the colonists could take on the British.
Common Sense A 47- page pamphlet published in January 1776 that arged seperation from Great Britian.
Thomas Jefferson Jefferson was apart of the committee members.
Declaration of Independence July 4, 1776 Formally announced the colonies' break from Great Britian.
Patriots Colonists known as Patriots chose to fight for independence.
Loyalists Sometimes called Tories- were those who remained loyal to Great Britian.
Left out of DOI (names) John Adams, Benjamin Franklin, and Thomas Jefferson.
